If you happen to watch the Hallmark Channel and their holiday movies, you know the story will nearly always have some activities that involve the community and kids. So  Chamber/Heritage managed Bernadette Bradley, along with participants in the recently formed Community Unity Group, decided Muleshoe could bring our community together after the Christmas parade by providing some fun holiday activities, too.

As I walked into the Oneita Wagnon Senior Center after the parade, chairs were still full of the people who chose to watch the parade inside in the warmth of the center.

Young mothers, grandmothers, and many helpers were busy getting activities ready for kids.

Rosa Davis and Annette Orozco and the women who frequent the senior center were ready for the adults, too, with hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and all kinds of cookies. Too many cookies! The temptation was to have one of each.

One of the favorite tables was decorating cookies. Cookies and supplies for that project were supplied by Rosie Cabrera and the Catholic Church youth group.

Snowmen ornaments were made, too. Materials provided for that project were provided by the Seekers Sunday School class at Muleshoe Methodist Church.

Wreaths were to be made to give residents at the Harmon Elliott Senior Center Complex and Park View Nursing Care Center. Those were made later in the evening.

Stickers were fun, too.

McDonald’s came with a table with activities and prizes for the kids. All that got busy about the time I left.

Santa came from the Muletrain Express to visit with the kids at the senior center, too.

Fun and visiting went on after even more kids came in. I know other groups provided activities and were involved that I didn’t know about; these things don’t happen without lots of people involved. Which was the whole point. I’d say the Hallmark Christmas was a success.

The Hallmark Channel has nothing on us!

Merry Christmas
