Mammillaria hahnina. As you can see, the buds eventually circle the entire cactus, making a halo of blooms. This cactus will be in bloom for well over a week as new buds open around the top of the plant.

Purple echeveria. The plant is purple, not the blooms!

Echeveria flowers are small, but are quite pretty if you take the time to look at them up close. Different echeverias, and there are many varieties, bloom in many colors. They are native to Mexico and can stay in the ground year round and have the chance to clump and spread into a mass of plants, so when they bloom, all those small flowers make more of a statement than my one plant can. But the succulent itself is pretty and makes a nice addition to any collection.
